Horizons 2025 - 2026 Annual Appeal

Horizons of Kent & Queen Anne's believes that all students deserve the opportunity to thrive. Anchored by a 6-week summer program, Horizons delivers a multi-year learning experience for scholars in grades PreK - 8 living communities that lack access to out-of-school academic support and enriching experiences.

Horizons closes the opportunity gap by removing the physical barriers to learning. We absorb the total cost of each student -- approximately $2,500 -- and provide transportation, supplies, and meals at no cost to our families. By the end of each summer session, Horizons students have typically gained 1-3 months of grade equivalence in reading and math - effectively reversing summer learning loss and sending students back to school feeling confident and ready. Over the course of 9 summers, a student will gain an additional 1 year of learning outside the classroom, giving our students a marked advantage.

Last summer, we had an unprecedented number of student referrals -- too many for us to accommodate. However, with your help we can grow and provide targeted academic support as well as enrichment activities, character education, and social-emotional learning for more students.
