Changes to Charitable Giving Tax Deductions included in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, & Economic Security (CARES) Act will allow taxpayers who do not itemize to now deduct up to $300 on their tax return. People who make larger gifts will be able to deduct a much higher amount. An individual will be able to make a gift cash and deduct it up to 100 percent of their adjusted gross income for the year 2020. This provision could allow a person to make charitable gifts that eliminate his or her tax burden. Contact your tax advisor for more information.
